“ Phoenix, who received a best actor Oscar nomination earlier this week, flipped his car over when the brakes failed on a road above Sunset Boulevard. As he lay, disorientated, in the wreckage, he heard a gentle tap on the passenger window. “There was this German voice saying ‘Just relax’,” the 31-year-old actor recalled, adding that Herzog then helped him from the vehicle. “There’s something so calming and beautiful about Werner Herzog’s voice,” Phoenix said. “I felt completely fine and safe.” Herzog has a home near where the accident occurred. Aronofsky goes gold

“The Wrestler” in the 65th Venice Film festival.

Today at 3:20pm The Wrestler by Darren Aronofsky (USA)
has been awarded the GOLDEN LION for Best Film, by the Venezia 65 Jury, chaired by Wim Wenders and comprised of Juriy Arabov, Valeria Golino, Douglas Gordon, Lucrecia Martel, John Landis, and Johnnie To.

The wrestler is the story of retired professional wrestler, Randy “The Ram” Robinson, making his way through the independent circuit, trying to get back in the game for one final showdown with his former rival.

Aronofsky’s Wrestler is to be released on December 19th, which qualifies it for Academy Awards recognition.
